Aishwarya Rai is the highest paid and most beautiful actress in Bollywood today. Last year, she and Hrithik Roshan appeared in Dhoom 2, which was the biggest hit of the year. Hindi movie goers will see the rocking pair again in Ashutosh Gowariker's magnum opus movie, Jodha Akbar.

Aishwarya Rai played the character of Jodha Bai, the Rajput Princess, who was married to Akbar (played by Hrithik Roshan). Jodha was a victim of politics. For this role, Aishwarya had to learn horse riding and sword fighting. She acted in war scenes. Luckily, Aishwarya was familiar with the whole prcoess since she had to learn horse riding and sword fighting for her character in the Last Legion.

Aishwarya got the proposal to work in Jodha Akbar when she was in London shooting for Provoked, a movie based on the real life story of a battered punjabi housewife, Kiranjit Ahluwalia. Ashutosh sent her sms “Will U BE MY JODHA.” She agreed and they met face to face in Mumbai and finalized the deal.

Jodha Akbar will be Aishwarya Bachchan’s fourth period movie. Her other three period movies are: Chokher Bali, Devdas, Umrao Jaan. According to critics, Aishwarya Bachchan’s over all look goes very well with the make up of period movies. She fits very well in the costumes.

The shooting of Jodha Akbar took place in Karjaat studio. Owner of the studio, Nitin Desai, made two special cottages for Aishwarya Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan. Aishwarya Bachchan’s room was painted in soft romantic colors. Since she liked watching romantic movies, Nitin gave her 300 DVDs. The cottage was designed in such a way that  it would make  Aishwarya feel like a princess.

The sari wore by Aishwarya in Jodha Akbar was designed by her favorite designer, Neeta Lulla. Aishwarya had to wear heavy jewelry. The jewelry used in this movie were real and they were made by a famous company.

Aishwarya had to maintain a very tight schedule for Jodha Akbar. In April, she got married to Abhishek Bachchan, son of famous Bollywood actor, Amitabh Bachchan. Later, she went to Paris for shooting Pink Panther 2. Before going to Paris, she had to finish all her work. In the morning, she went to the shooting spot and after 6 p.m. went to the studio for dubbing. While the actors were dubbing for the movie, Ashutosh made sure that they properly pronounce their Urdu words.
