In the past, fielding was not given so much importance in cricket. However, in modern cricket, fielding is thought to be as important as batting and bowling. India’s fielding was never good in international level. India suffered a lot in the past because of their poor fielding. However, with the inclusion of Yuvraj Singh and Mohammed Kaif in the Indian side, India’s fielding improved to some extent. India’s recent fielding performance is really very poor. Their catching and ground fielding was not up to the mark in the ongoing ODI series against England.

Now, ahead of the Twenty20 world cup, fielding has become a major concern for Indian team. Robin Singh is now the fielding coach of Indian team. In his career, Robin Singh earned fame for his athletic ground fielding and catching. I hope that he will be able to help Indian players to improve their fielding so that India will not have any problem in the Twenty20 world cup 2007 in South Africa.

Most of the Indian players are young in the Twenty20 squad. So, they can easily improve their fielding if they work hard. So, fielding should not be a problem for Indian team in the Twenty20 world cup 2007. However, I cannot be optimistic about it.
