India vs Pakistan 2007: Opinions of Ravi Shastri and Wasim Akram

India vs Pakistan Cricket series 2007 begins on 5 November 2007. The two cricket rivals will face each other in three Test and five ODI matches. Ahead of the ODI series between India and Pakistan, two former cricketers from India and Pakistan- Ravi Shastri and Wasim Akram- have recently talked about the upcoming series. Both of them have expressed their opinions on different matters of the series. They agreed that both India and Pakistan had equal chance in ODI series. However, to them, India is ahead of Pakistan for the Test series.

Regarding the issue of Rahul Dravid’s getting out of the ODI team, Ravi Shastri has said that it was a tough call for the selector and according to Ravi, there will be a time when Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid cannot play for the sake of new generation. When asked if Pakistan would miss Inzamam-ul Haq in the series, Wasim Akram admitted that Pakistan would obviously miss him in the middle order in the flat Indian wickets.

Khaleej Times reported:

On the young captains of India and Pakistan, Shastri said: “Both Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Shoaib Malik are young and refreshing. Both of them have great temperament. In fact if you look at their personalities, they are cool under pressure.”

Akram too agreed: “Both of them are quick learners of the game. There will be a lot of pressure on Malik in India. Apart from playing cricket, there will be extra pressure on him like handling the Indian media. I hope he learns quickly.

Cricket fans around the world are now expecting another mind blowing Indian vs Pakistan cricket series. In the past, India vs Pakistan cricket series have come up with many exciting matches.
