ODI Series Defeat for Pakistan Against South Africa

Earlier today, South Africa defeated Pakistan in the last match of the ODI series and clinched the ODI series by 3-2. It was an enjoyable match and Pakistan looked to be the stronger team of the two until the last 30 minutes.

Yes, for most of the time during the match, everyone thought Pakistan would win the match. However, in the end, it was South African players who outperformed the Pakistani batsmen and ensured a memorable series victory in Pakistani soil.

Times Online wrote:

South Africa took six Pakistan wickets for just 20 runs off 36 balls to achieve a sensational win and clinch the five match one-day series by 14 runs. Pacemen Albie Morkel finished with 4-44 and Makhaya Ntini grabbed 4-61 as the tourists pulled off a sensational victory from the jaws of defeat as Pakistan were dismissed for 219 in 46.3 overs.

"It is fantastic to win both Tests and one-dayers and this was an incredible win. We took huge catches and the ball swung in the end and helped us to take those last wickets," Graeme Smith, the South Africa captain, said.

Pakistan were cruising at 149-2 with Younus Khan (58) and Mohammad Yousuf (53) adding a solid 106 runs for the third wicket. They repaired the innings after Pakistan lost Imran Nazir (17) and Kamran Akmal (24).

The only good thing for Pakistan team was that Shoaib Akhtar returned to international cricket with this match. Shoaib Akhtar was very impressive with the ball and he bowled superbly. However, that was not enough as Pakistani batsmen made an easy target impossible in the lat 10 overs.

I am really happy to see that Pakistan defeated against South Africa team. I am a great fan of South Africa team. And i am very happy to see Shoaib to play in Pakistan team. He played well. For his aggressive bowling, Pakistan was supposed to win.
