The electricity consumers in Pakistan are going to bear the brunt of 8 to 10 hours load shedding by the second week of November in the wake of estimated shortfall of 3750 MW likely to be caused by multiple factors, the most important being the annual shutdown of IPPs, producing 5654.44 MW of electricity.
Official sources revealed here yesterday that Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) has prepared a report about demand and supply situation, indicating that winter season would experience worst kind of electric shortage.
The sources said that the distribution companies would have to resort to load shedding and energy conservation measures, spreading over more than eight hours, which may touch the 10-hour mark in a bid to meet escalating shortfall.
