Ahead of the $4 billion Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) gas agreement, Pakistan has asked Turkmenistan to make a report on the existing gas reservoirs in Turkmenistan. The report will be in the agenda of the forthcoming TAP gas line project meeting which is supposed to be held in Islamabad next month. Pakistan is expected to import 15 million standard cubic meters per day of gas from Turkmenistan in the first year of the agreement.

Sources from ministry said that Pakistan hopefully would receive the report about the gas reservoirs of Turkmenistan and that report would also be discussed in the meeting of
Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) gas pipeline project, to be held here in Islamabad next month. However the date has not been finalised to hold the meeting in Islamabad.

 Now, India also is interested to join this project. The economies of both India and Pakistan are growing fast and they need a lot of oil for sustaining the high economic growth.
