Diabetes is now a common problem around the world. The number of diabetes patient has been increased significantly in Nepal last year. Now, it has become a major concern for Nepal health ministry. A recent report of Nepal Diabetes Association (NDA) shows that the rate of diabetes cases is increasing among the children specially among the urban children. The major causes of diabetes are growing obesity, urban life style and having appetite for western food.

The World Diabetes Day has been observed on Wednesday across the world. According to World Health Organization (WHO) the rate of Diabetes cases has been increased by three percent among the adolescents whereas the rate is five among the children under five. At this moment, more than 400,000 are suffering from Diabetes in Nepal.

Talking to The Rising Nepal, president of Nepal Diabetes Association Dr. Dhruba Lal Singh said that more children are found to be affected from the disease but the symptoms could not be detected at the early stage because they could not share their problems.

Physical inactivity, overweight, changing lifestyle, western food habit, mental trauma and heredity as well as increasing life span are some of the major causes of diabetes. He said, It has become serious health problem among children and the medicine for children is out of the reach of the common people."

This is bad news for Nepalese economy. Nepal is a very poor country. The last thing that this country needs is a health hazard from diabetes. I really wish Nepalese government and media come forward to create an awareness among people abough fighting against diabetes.
