Girl with 8 Limbs: Pray for Lakshmi Tatma

Lakshmi Tatma is just two years old but she was born with 8 limbs. This is surely an abnormal feature and it has attracted media attention worldwide. Doctors are carrying out a very complicated surgery in her body to make her condition normal. Many people are praying for her recovery and I urge all of you to do so. Lakshmi Tatma is a very unlucky girl that she was born in to a poor family and was born with 8 limbs. Her family could never afford such treatment but fortunately, a group of doctors are helping her.

Hindustan Times wrote:

Her deformity makes it impossible for her to stand or walk, but doctors in Bangalore will perform a 40-hour surgery on Tuesday that might give her a chance.

She has extra limbs because she is joined to a parasitic twin, who stopped developing in her mother’s womb.

Lakshmi’s parents Shambhu and Poonam named her after the four-armed goddess of wealth, and it was their love for her that stopped them from selling Lakshmi to the highest bidder.

“We took her to a hospital in Delhi after her birth but some circus owners got to hear about her. They wanted to turn her into a freak show and offered us money, but we brought her back to the village,” says Shambhu, who has a farm in Bihar’s Terai region.

The parents of Lakshmi Tatma suffered a lot for their daughter but they loved their child and did not wish to sell her. It is common to see beggars with deformity in many Indian cities. In fact, the parents could earn a decent amount of money regularly by taking advantage of Lakshmi Tatma’s condition. Fortunately, Sparsh Hospital came forward and offered to carry out free treatment. I admire the parents of Lakshmi Tatma a lot as they did not use their daughter as a commodity. Many people consider Lakshmi Tatma as a miracle of God.

Telegraph wrote:

Locals in the northern state of Bihar believed the girl was "sent from God" when she was born to a poor rural family.

She is named after the Hindu goddess of wealth who has four arms.

As news of her birth spread among the 500 inhabitants of Rampur Kodar Katti - a remote settlement without electricity or running water - men, women and children queued for a darshan, or blessing, from the baby.

It is a 40-hour long operation. The good news is that the doctors were satisfied with the first phase.

CNN wrote:

"So far, so good," Dr. Sharan Patil, the head surgeon, told reporters after 10 hours of surgery to separate Lakshmi Tatma from her "parasitic twin."

The task began early Tuesday in the southern Indian city of Bangalore and is expected to go on through Tuesday night.

Patil told reporters the team of 30 surgeons had begun the process of severing Lakshmi from her conjoined twin, which stopped developing in the mother's womb and has a torso and limbs but no head.

Now, let us pray for Lakshmi Tatma. I hope that she will become better by tomorrow.

I am a big fan of Google Trends and I check it almost everyday to get an idea about what people are searching about in Google. I often want to write about these topics for my readers but most of the time, these topics are not related to South Asia anyway. This is one of the rarest times when I could see that a topic about India has become a popular search item in Google Trends.

Don’t forget to pray for this girl today.

It is really very sad to have born with eight limbs. I also appreciate the doctors who have come forward with a view to present Lakshmi with a normal life. I guess that it will be a critical surgery. So, there is risk in such surgery. However, it is good news that after 10 hours of surgery, Lakshmi is well. The whole country is now expecting for a successful surgery.

I also appreciate her parents that they did not start earning money using the condition of Lakshmi Tatma despite their poor financial condition. Actually, it would not be possible to ensure her treatment if the doctors did not come forward to help this girl. I agree with you that in India, there are many poor families who earn money using the physical inability of their children. It could be good lesions for those parents who send involve their children with physical disability to earn money.

The innocent look of Lakshmi has crossed in my mind. It is hard to see a girl like Lakshmi with such a complicated physical problem. There are many children like Lakshmi who are living with constant suffering. Actually, people with physical disability can not work like a healthy man. So, government can take the concern with higher significance and should ensure treatment of disabled persons. Now, let us pray for Lakshmi Tatma.

First, I am praying for the girl Lakshmi Tatma. I will pray that doctors who are helping the family free of cost.
Secondly, I want to that Lakshmi Tatma’s parents who did not agree to see their child as a commodity.
It will be a great achievement if the doctors become success after 40 hours operation. We all know the twin sisters in Iran. After operation, the doctors told that as they are over aged so the operation is difficult. As a result the, the doctor did not success. But here is a good sign that the girl is tender aged. If the doctor would success then it will be a great achievement for Indian medical science.

Also, that family is Hindu...if you belive in God, you belive her and her family are going to hell....SO SHUT UP! Your god failed her, now man will what we can to fix her. Take your "it's god will" crap and shove it, also what we are doing it tampering with gods work...so really all the doctors will burn in hell to....SEE HOW DUMB YOU MORONS SOUND!.

I fnd Mr.Kamrul Hasan to be the most foolish, ignorant and immature person, who knows absolutely nothing about humanity
