Today, Sri Lanka made the headline in International media for another bomb attack near Colombo. Naturally, this kind media headlines don’t help to improve the image of Sri Lanka in the international business world. Well, Sri Lanka is growing against all the odds. Sri Lankan Airlines has achieved a rare feat in Indian market. It has now 100 weekly flights in India.

The Statesman wrote:

Sri Lankan Airlines has become the first foreign airlines to operate 100 flights per week to India. The airlines reached the important milestone today when it added another weekly flight to its existing services to Trichy.

Sri Lankan Airlines CEO, Mr Peter Hill, said, Coimbatore became Sri Lankan’s 11th destination in India. The airlines operates two flights daily to Chennai and Mumbai, and a daily flight to New Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Trichy, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode. There are four flights to Coimbatore and three to Goa.

In 2006-07, this airlines company carried nearly 1.1 million people to and from India. It is interesting that Sri Lankan Airlines is growing despite the fact that aviation professions are suffering in the country.
