English Premier League (EPL) is perhaps the most popular and richest football (soccer) league in the world. It has huge fan base around the world. The only place that EPL has so far failed to make an impact is India. You know that Indians are fan of cricket and that is perhaps why EPL clubs are yet to become very popular in India. Of course, being popular in a country means earning a lot of money from selling merchandise products.

The irony is that India is a former British colony. Now, it seems that EPL clubs have started to take Indian market seriously. A few days ago, I wrote about Arsenal FC targeting Indian market. In fact, Manchester United is also interested to make itself visible in India. Now, I can see that Chelsea is following Arsenal and Manchester United.

The trip will promote closer ties between the capital and India in business, tourism, education, sport and creative industries, reports the clubs official web site.

This is good news for Indian football fans. Of course, administrators of Indian football will have to work harder to ensure that the game of football flourishes in India. Otherwise, India will just become as a market for EPL and EPL clubs will earn a lot of money from Indian market.
