There are many cricket stars around the world. Fans feel grateful if they can meet a star like Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting etc. However, if a fan becomes celebrity like cricket star then of course, you will be surprised. Abdul Jalil, a die hard fan of Pakistan cricket team, has become a celebrity like Shoaib Malik or Shahid Afridi. This 60 year old man with white beard has now become the no. 1 fan of Pakistan cricket team. Almost all of the cricket fans who often watch cricket matches on television must have seen Abdul Jalil with his trademark green shalwar kameez, with sequined star and crescent moon on his cap as well as flag of Pakistan holding at his hand.

Abdul Jalil has been given a name ‘Chacha Cricket’ by the cricket fans. Now, the phrase ‘Chacha Cricekt’ has become a brand name in the cricket world. Now, he follows Pakistan team almost in every tour and tournament. From 2000, different organizations have been supporting his trips in various countries of the world. Now, ahead of the upcoming Pakistan’s tour to India 2007, Abdul Jalil has asked Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to sponsor his trip to India.

'Yes I am arriving. I may miss the first ODI in Guwahati (Nov. 5) but will certainly be present at Mohali (on 8th November),' he confirmed.

'I have come to Lahore (from Sialkot) for my visa application and requested the board to sponsor my India trip. If they don't, the ARY digital TV channel has promised me to make my trip possible,' he added.

'I shall be watching all remaining ODIs and Tests. I love Test matches better than one-dayers.'

Chacha Cricket is now so popular that you can find an entry by this name in Wikipedia. I am not sure if Abdul Jalil is the first fan celebrity of cricket but, what I can say, for sure, is that Abdul Jalil is one of the familiar figures in today’s cricket. So, his presence in the cricket grounds during India vs Pakistan coming matches will give an additional excitement to the cricket fans of both sides.
