It is perhaps the most expensive birthday gift given by any Indian to his wife. Of course, Mukesh Ambani is not an ordinary Indian man. In fact, he is the richest man in India now. Mukesh Ambani has given his wife a luxury jet for her birthday. The price of this jet is $59 million.

Ambani spent 2.42 billion rupees (US$59 million; €49 million) on an Airbus-319 corporate jet fitted with a plush bar with mood lighting, a master bedroom, showers and a state-of-the-art entertainment cabin.

The jet rolled into Mumbai's airport in time for his wife Nita's 44th birthday on Thursday, the Mumbai Mirror newspaper reported, citing unidentified individuals.

Mukesh Ambani has a lot of money and he surely can spend this amount of money. However, India is a poor country and most people in India even cannot dream of giving their wife a $59 gift in the birthday. In fact, most people in India even cannot think of giving any gift to their wives in the birthday. Anyway, I am sure that the wife of Mukesh Ambani is very happy now after getting such an expensive gift in her birthday.

The customised monster-of-a-bird, that should have been delivered in April, rolled into Delhi's Indira Gandhi International airport en route to Mumbai on Thursday morning. This was confirmed by Airbus sources who did not wish to be quoted. A Reliance spokesperson refused to comment.

The Reliance Industries chairman will finally have his office in the sky. After he bought the aircraft, Mukesh got it customised at the Associated Air Centre in Dallas, Texas. It has a state-of-the-art business office and cabin management system for games, music, satellite television and wireless communication. But more interestingly, it has a master bedroom, master lavatory with a range of showers, galleys and a sky bar in the forward lounge complete with mood lighting.

It seems that this is the week of Mukesh Ambani. Earlier this week, it was stated in different media reports that Mukesh Ambani had become the Richest Man in the World. His name came along with Bill Gates in international media. Then this expensive birthday gift. There is no doubt that he is super rich.

The 27-storey home -- for a family of six -- with a helipad, health club and six floors for car parking and 600 staff, has awed India's rich.
