Synopsis: The word “Saawarirya” means beloved. The story of the movie takes place in a small Indian town. One day, Raj, an artist from Shimla, comes in and falls in love with the town. He finds everything his free sprited artistic mind has been looking for. Then on a starry night, he meets Sakhina at a bridge. Sakhina is a shy melancholic Muslim girl and Raj is a Hindu. However, religion could not hold them from falling in love with each other. The beginning of the relation is through friendship and gradually they are drawn toward each other but Sakhina has a past. When Raj comes to know about her life he falls into a serious mental dillemma. Whether he should accept Sakhina or not?

This is the title track and the most popular track of this album. The song takes off with beautiful guitar sound. Shail Hada’s voice has added a fresh feel.The melody is very romantic and soothing. Not too many instruments are used. Whenever I play the song I can visualize Ranbir Kapoor’s smiling face. In this movie, Ranbir Kapoor plays the character of an artist who is energetic, free spirited. The song suits his character’s mentality. The only problem with this song is that it is very short.

The comparison between the moon and one’s beloved is not only found in poems, many hit Hindi songs are based on this theme. This romantic song reminded me of “E - Chaand Teri” sung by Alka Yagnik and Sonu Nigam in Abhishek Bachchan starrer Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya. The music is definitely a mixture. There are lots of unexpected transitions. For example, in the middle it picks up Qawwali style. However, these transitions did not mar the flow of the music. Monty is new but he has very good knowledge about music.

In this movie, Rani Mukherjee is playing the role of a prostitute and this song suits her character pretty well.
Saawariya tells the story of two small town people who come across each other accidentally and falls in love with each other. The songs truly uphold the mood of the film. They create a passionate romantic environment. However, not all the songs are equally enjoyable. Except Saawariya, the title song and Jab Se tere naina, and Masha Allah, the energy and vigor is lost. Still, I praise Monty Sharma. For a new musician, he has given a lot and listening to the tracks, it can be understood.
