Star Airlines is a posh airline alliance in the airline industry. It has some of the top names in airline industry as its members. So, it is nice to see that Air India is going to become a member of Star Alliance.

With this, the passengers of Air India can travel by booking a single ticket and automatically transfer baggage from one airline to the other. They can also earn and burn miles in any part of the world by flying in the Star Alliance network. Air India and Star Alliance will now deploy special teams to ensure the integration process.

The alliance will help passengers tap destinations in Europe, South East Asia and the US, where Air India does not operate any services. Star Alliance members can enable their passengers to fly into any destination inside India and at great fares. The Star Alliance network offers more than 17,000 daily flights to 897 destinations in 160 countries.

The interesting thing is that just 3 weeks ago, many people were unhappy with Air India. Even there was a blog on Air India to share negative story about Air India. So, I guess that the passengers would want to see some improvement from Air India rather than joining the Star Alliance.
