There are just two days left of 2007. Then, we are going to have a new year- 2008. The beginning of a new year always brings hope in the mind of the people. For South Asia, 2007 was an eventful year.

For Bangladesh, 2008 is supposed to be the election year. General election is expected to be held in the later part of 2008.

Bhutan is going to see its first democratic general election in 2008.

Nepal is going to have its general election in 2008.

The death of Benazir Bhutto has cast a dark shadow on the upcoming election of 2008 in Pakistan.

General election is supposed to take place in India in 2009 but if there is an early election than 2008 can be the election year for India too.

Are you tired of elections? Then you can be rest assured that unless something dramatic happens, there will be no election in Myanmar.  

So, 2008 is a year of elections in South Asia.
