It is breaking news- sort of. Miss China 2007 Zi Lin Zhang is the winner of Miss World 2007. Zi Lin Zhang has defeated contestants from more than 100 countries around the world. It was great to see Zi Lin Zhang winning the crown infront of her own people as Miss World 2007 took place in China.  

Zi Lin Zhang was the tallest contestant in Miss World 2007. When she was given the crown, she was very happy and excited.

AFP wrote about her:

Hometown fans will be cheering on Miss China -- Zhang Zilin, a 23-year-old secretary from Beijing -- hoping she can live up to her billing as one of the pre-contest favourites and bring home the crown.

Standing at 182 centimetres (5 foot 9 inches), she is the tallest of the 106 contestants and has been mobbed by supporters each time she enters the hotel complex where the entrants are staying two to a room.

Zi Lin Zhang was born in Shi Jia Zhuang City in Hei Bei, China. She completed her Business Administration degree from University of Science and Technology. At this moment, she is working as a secretary in a company. Zi Lin Zhang likes traveling, reading, watching movies, writing and some sporting events.

It was a huge victory for China. China is hosting Olympics 2008 and a win in Miss World 2007 would surely bring more media coverage for China. In fact, Zi Lin Zhang has the same desire in her mind. She wants to be part of Olympic Games.  

The Hindu wrote:

An impressive cast of international stars and music artists ensured that the 57th Miss World Final was a dazzling event.

"There are 1.3 billion people behind me," Zilin said during the 40-second interview stage of the contest, referring to her country's population.

"If I win I want to become a link between the Olympic Games (in Beijing next year) and the Miss World Organisation."

"I want to use the power and beauty of Miss World to support those in need," she said.

It was a disappointing night for Asian countries in Miss World 2007. In fact, among the top 5 finalists, there was just one Asian girl and Zi Lin Zhang proved that it was the year of Asian girls. You know that earlier this year, Riyo Mori of Japan won the crown of Miss Universe 2007. Miss India was not even in the top 15. It was disappointing for Indian fans surely.
