Yes, at last, there is hope of having general election in Nepal. There was democracy movement in April 2006 and King Gyanendra was forced to reinstate the Parliament he dissolved. After that, there was hope of general election but it did not happen until now. Well, there were some obstacles and that is why Nepalese government had to remove the obstacles first.

Parties must provide a list of candidates who will run for seats under a proportional representation system on Feb. 22 and nominate people for direct election by Feb. 25, Nepalnews.com reported on its Web site.

The date set for the National Assembly election ``was a unanimous decision by all seven parties'' in the coalition government, Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat said by telephone yesterday from the capital, Kathmandu. The Assembly will write a new constitution and vote on the abolition of the monarchy.

I just hope that this time, election really takes place in April 10. I also like to see the political parties go to the doorsteps of ordinary people and explain their ideas about governing the country.
