To bring in more variations and attract more listeners, Bollywood moviemakers are going for multiple composers. Sunday, the upcoming movie of Ajay Devgan, has six music composers: Sandeep Chowta, Shibani Kashyap, Daler Mehndi, Raghav Sachar, Suroor (Pakistani band) and Amar Mohile. The main problem with the music album is that the music is more western oriented than Indian, which does not have mass appeal. The young generation, especially, who are used to listening to hip-hop or rap and other western music will enjoy the songs.
Title: Missing Sunday
Lyrics: Farhad Sajid
Music: Sandeep Chowta
Singers: Mahua Kamat, Suraj, and Earl Edgar D
This is the title song of the movie which you have already heard in various cable channels. The music is done in hip-hop style like the “One love” sung by Shaan in Rakht (2004). The song does not have much lyrics but it is definitely good to hear. If you are upset or feeling low for some reason just put on the song and immediately it takes off, you will find yourself grooving to the beat. The music video of the song is also well made. Ajay Devgan, Ayesha Takia, Arshad Warsi and Irrfan Khan appeared in the video. From the music video and music it can be understood that the song is made keeping in mind the young generation.
Title: Missing Sunday (remix version)
Made by: Tanay-Gaurav
Remix is good but sometimes it just kills the feeling of the song. This has just happened with the Missing Sunday remix version. I liked the original track and equally disliked the remix version.
Title: Kashmakash
Lyrics: Virag Mishra
Music: Shibani Kashyap
Singer: Shibani Kashyap
This is an item song. Esha Deol appeared in it. The song is like Dastaan-e-Om-Shanti from Om Shanti Om in the sense that Dastaan-e-Om-Shanti leads the listener to the climax of the movie. Something is going to happen. This song plays the similar role in the movie. The Latino style music is good to hear but there is nothing special about the song.
Title: Kashmakash (remix version)
Made by: DJ Suketu
You remember “Woh Lamhe” from Zeher? The remix version of the song was better than the original song. Same thing can be said about Kashmakash. I found the remix version better than the original version.
Title: Pyaar To Hona Hi Hai
Lyrics: Kamran Bari
Music: Suroor (Pakistani Band)
Singers: Kamran Bari, Mohammed Ali
Kamran Bari and Mohammed Ali definitely deserve thumbs up for this song. The music beautifully mixes up the western and classic Indian style. The acoustic guitar, violin, and the classical alaap sets the mood and then it takes a sharp U-turn with the drum beats in the background. The music and singing style coincides with that of the “Strings,” another popular Pakistani band. You may not like the other songs of the album but I am sure you will like this song for its brilliant music and singing style.
Title: Pyaar To Hona Hi Hai (remix version)
Made by: Tanay-Gaurav
The romantic feeling is the essence of this song which is totally lost in the techno beats of the remix version; BAD IDEA! All you can hear is the loud beats which is too much.
Title: Loot Liya
Lyrics: Daler Mehendi, Farhad Sajid
Music: Daler Mehendi
Singers: Daler Mehendi, Sunidhi Chauhan
Daler Mehendi achieved phenomenal success for his Bhangra tracks. Loot liya is a bhangra song with lots of dhol beats and loud music. After the song starts, one would get the feeling that this type of song best suits marriage ceremonies where the groom’s party dances around or any other festival where people likes to dance their feet off. The music is nothing to remember; typical jhatka matkas. Daler sings in his usual style and Sunidhi Chauhan beautifully compelments him. If you are angry with some one just call him/her on the cell phone and put the cell phone near the speaker and play this song. Definitely, it is going to be a serious punishment for the listener on the other side.
Title: Manzar
Lyrics: Aditya Dhar
Music: Raghav Sachar
Singers: Mahua Kamat, Suraj, Earl Edgar D.
After the hip-hop, romantic, and ear busting bhangra, this song is like a breath of fresh air. The music is western but very energizing. The catchy rhythm of the song bears typical Raghav trademark; a mixture of sufi, soft rock and jazz.
Title: Sunday (Theme)
Lyrics: Joy
Music: Amar Mohile
Singers: Joy and Clint.
Another rocking track with good music. You may not like it but you will not hate it either.
In fine, I can say that the music album has only three good songs: Manzar, Pyaar to Hona hi hai, and Missing Sunday. The rest of the songs will not have any lasting effects on the listeners.
