In 2003, he came out as a director with Zameen. In 2006, Golmaal established his place as a good director. Now, Rohit Shetty is back with his comedy thriller, Sunday. In an interview with Planet Bollywood, the director talks about the movie:
First of all, please tell us something about the title.
In fact, everyone is asking me the same question. It has been titled Sunday because the story of the film is based on a Sunday. When we sat down to keep the title of the film, we were at a loss. We neither wanted to project it as a dark film, nor as a slapstick comedy. At the same time, we did not want people to assume the film to be a hardcore action film. Thus, we settled on the name Sunday.
What was your experience doing Sunday?
Believe me; the film has turned out to be far better than my expectations. I have had so many good actors in the film that my experience has been a marvelous one. All the actors Ajay Devgan, Ayesha Takia, Arshad Warsi and Irfaan Khan have performed extremely well in this film. Everyone has put their lives into their respective roles.
These days too many comedy films are being made in Bollywood. Your comments.
All that I can say about my film is that this is not a comedy film like the others, but there is a blend of thrills and a bit of action too. While watching my films the audience will not just be laughing, but also thinking about what will happen next. Thus, my films present two different aspects and cannot be called slapstick comedies, but terrific humors.
Talking about his actors, Rohit said that he was very happy with the cast. He and Ajay have been working for a long time. When he told Ajay about the story, he immediately agreed to do the film. Arshad and Irrfan gave very good performances. Ayesha also did very well.

Rohit Shetty proved himself as a successful director with his new movie 'Sunday'. If you see the movie then you can realize that Rohit had to work hard for this movie. The main theme is serious and being a crime thriller movie the characters and dialogues will make you laugh till the end of this movie. I am eagerly waiting to see the movie. I hope it should take the top chart in box office.
