Earlier today, I wrote this entry: Nepal: Number of Female Guides Increasing in Trekking Industry. Well, if you have read the entry then you should also know that this revolution was brought by 3 sisters- Chhetri Sisters. They are: Nicky Chhetri, Lucky Chhetri and Dicky Chhetri. I browsed through the website and visited all the pages. It is an amazing tale of 3 sisters who defied all the odds and the rest is literally history. I am quoting a part of their story:
"In 1993 we were running a restaurant and a lodge in Pokhara. We had the opportunity to meet women from all over the world. We came across some unhappy and frightened solo women travelers who had had bad experiences with their male guides. Upon hearing these stories, we felt sad and decided to do something immediately. With urging from our friends, we gathered up all our courage and entered into this uncharted territory.
