I don’t need to remind you that entertainment is a big industry in India. In fact, Bollywood is a very big industry in India. In the recent years, there has been a huge growth in the TV industry too. Compared to India, the condition of entertainment sector in Pakistan is not good. The good thing is that Pakistan government has taken an initiative to boost the entertainment sector by giving it as the status of an industry.

Daily Times reported:

The federal cabinet has decided to grant status of industry to the entertainment sector comprising studios, TV channels, production and animation houses, said Mr Salmaan Taseer, Caretaker Federal Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives at a press briefing in Lahore at the offices of SMEDA. He said that the power tariff of the entertainment sector would also be taken up separately with NEPRA to reduce the cost of entertainment business.

It is good news for entertainment sector of Pakistan. All the stake holders in this sector would now be happy to find that they would get new facilities. Pakistani cinema is struggling as many people in the country are fan of Bollywood movies. Hopefully, this decision from Pakistan government would help to boost the entertainment sector in Pakistan.

Well, I think that Pakistani government and the media should try to promote the entertainment sector more.
