Sachin Tendulkar will miss the second test against South Africa, starting from 3rd April 2008. Mohammed Kaif has been named as the replacement. Kaif has been recalled to the test squad since his last test appearance in 2006. However, Kaif now has to go through a stiff competition with middle order batsman Yuvraj Singh to win the place in the first eleven.

The Hindu reported:
Ironically, the same two batsmen, who were members of the Indian under 19 World Cup winning squad previously in Sri Lanka when Yuvraj played under Kaif's captaincy, are now thrown into a contest of musical chairs to grab the lone spot left vacant by the forced absence through a groin injury of master batsman Sachin Tendulkar.
Kaif and Yuvraj are part of a great Indian triumph dated back to 2002 NatWest Series final. The duo came up with a 121 run partnership leading India to an incredible victory at the Lord’s. Both of them were successful that day as India won the trophy. Now, let us see who will win the upcoming battle to win a place in India’s first team squad for the second test against South Africa.
