Nepal may be one of the poorest countries in the world but Nepal is trying its best o make the best use of Information Technology to develop its human resource. So, Nepalese children has got the blessing of OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) laptops. If I am not wrong then I guess that Nepal is the first country in South Asia to provide rural children OLPC laptops.

One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) Nepal has in coordination with Ministry of Education distributed laptops to the students of Janajyoti Lower Secondary School in Ugratara-8 Kavre district on Thursday as part of first ever pilot distribution of the laptop in Nepal.

The inexpensive but highly durable OLPC XO laptops were distributed to all 16 students of grade four of the school amidst a programme.   

It is time that the governments of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh can learn from Nepal government and arrange OLPC laptops for their children. Nepal is trying to make a strong base in IT and emulate Indian success in outsourcing.
