It seems that Tata Motors really is going to be a global auto maker. Earlier this week, there was news about Tata Motors buying two luxurious auto brands- Jaguar and Land Rover. Now, Tata is going for the Thailand market. Tata has already introduced Xenon truck in Thailand. Tata is also looking for setting up a plant in Thailand.

Hindu Business Line wrote:

Tata Motors is one of seven bidders for the “Eco car” project being promoted by the Thailand government. The project involves the design and manufacture of a car of less than 1.4 litre engine capacity that is Euro IV compliant and emits less than 120 gm of Co2 per km.

The minimum capacity and investment of such a project should be 1,00,000 units and 5 billion Baht (approximately Rs 600 crore) respectively.

 I just hope that Tata Motors is not trying to expand too fast. Of course, most people in Asia and India still do not own a car. So, there is enough room for growth. Maybe, this is the best time for Tata to expand and make the best out of the growing car market in Asia.
