Now all the people of Nepal and the political leaders are eagerly waiting for the election result. It is clear that the supporters of King Gyanendra will not become the biggest group in the new parliament. Most political parties want to see an end to monarchy system in Nepal. King Gyanendra is just holding on to power and many people feel that the election will make sure the end of monarchy system in the country.
BBC has an excellent report about this matter. Charles Haviland wrote:
Maoist former rebels and other parties have canvassed hard for the polls, in which an assembly will be elected to write a new constitution.
But little is being heard from one group - people who want to keep Nepal's monarchy.
With the institution now due to be abolished, few venture to voice support for the generally unpopular King Gyanendra. But he has his supporters.
Monarchy has been in Nepal for quite a long time and in fact, monarchy has remained alive in the country for last two centuries. So, some people support King Gyanendra no matter whatever he did in the past. To find out the fate of King Gyanendra we will have to wait another few weeks or few months perhaps.
