Pakistan joined the outsourcing business a bit later than India. Now, Pakistan is trying to follow the Indian success story in this regard. One area that has good potential for Pakistan is clinical trial. India has already seen some decent amount of success in this field. India has got $400 in the last five years in this business. Pakistan has a good potential too.

Pakistan has the potential to earn $50-100 million foreign exchange in clinical trial business in three years as well as can generate major employment in this area.
Tariq Ikram, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) stated this while speaking at a seminar on ‘Clinical Research Management in Pakistan’ here on Saturday. Mr Ikram said though, clinical trial business is a new area, enormous potential exists in the country for which concerted efforts are needed to tap this potential. The seminar was organised jointly by TDAP and Ministry of Health.
I think that Pakistani government should explore this field seriously. It surely has a lot of prospect for the country. However, Pakistani government officials must make it sure that clinical trial do not become a hazard for anyone in Pakistan.
