Like the Tashi Group, Singye Group also had a humble beginning in the 1960’s. Father of current owner, Ugyen Tsechup, Yab Ugyen Dorjee, had a shop. Later, he took up timber business. Singye group may have entered late into business but it saw rapid expansion in the last few decades. After some time, the company got divided into two different business organizations- Singye Group, run by son, Ugyen Tsechup and Dumchen Agencies, run by Yab Ugyen Dorji. Singye is not the second largest business conglomerate but it has a diversified business. There are Singye construction, Singye stone and sand factory, Singye hollow block unit, Singye batching plant, Singye wood industry, Omzim manufacturing (yarn, polyester), Singye readymade garments, Zimdra maruti (Zimdra workshop, Zimdra impex (wholesale), Zimdra spareparts, Mahindra and Mahindra outlet).
