Mount Everest is the highest mountain peak in the world and it is in Nepal. The presence of Mount Everest has brought good blessing for the country’s tourism sector and for the economy as a whole. Everest also works like a brand ambassador for the country as there is hardly anyone earth who does not know about Everest.
Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hillary conquered Mount Everest on May 29, 1953. Nepal is going to celebrate 29 May as ‘International Everest Day’.
Economic Times wrote:
Nepal Tourism Board announced that a Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon, wall-climbing competition, painting of mountain, quiz contest on mountaineering and grand music show will be organized in Kathmandu to mark the day.
International climbers and known people including son and granddaughter of Hillary will also participate in the event to be held on May 29.
This is a smart move from Nepalese government. However, I really would like to see that Nepal Tourism Board invites international media for the day and this will create good coverage for International Everest Day.
