Indian selectors have announced their squad for tri-series in Bangladesh and Asia Cup in Pakistan. There was no place for Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. I was a bit surprised about it. Well, we should not get surprised because Dhoni is the captain of the ODI team now and Dhoni is not big fan of Ganguly and Dravid.
Rahul Dravid’s place in ODI cricket was always in question as his batting was a bit slow and not fit for ODI cricket. Dravid is good for Test cricket and I am sure that he will be in the Test team for quite some time. However, I could not find any justification of excluding Ganguly. Ganguly is one of the top ODI batsmen of our time. He can score fast and also he can bowl. Secondly, he has done quite well both in Bangladesh and Pakistan tours in the past.
What do you think about it?
I am very surprised and sad to hear that batting trio are missing from the squad. I can't understand how is possible. It is true that Rahul Dravid needs more practive and fitness to come back in the competition and Sachin is still suffering from groin injury. But why Sourav is missing from national side. After return in the national side, he has scored more than 3000 runs. So, i hope selector should select him in the squad.
