Sri Lanka’s world cup winning Captain Arjuna Ranatunga has overly criticized Indian team for giving more focus on Twenty20 version of cricket. According to Ranatunga, Indian team was not prepared for test cricket as they dealt it as a Twenty20 game. The Sri Lankan great has termed India’s innings and 239-run defeat in the first test as an eye-opener for all test-playing countries.
"The way the Indians have played this Test is an eye-opener not just for us but for all cricket-playing countries," he told the Indian Express. "They dealt with this like a Twenty20 game. I think they were not prepared for Test cricket."
Arjuna Ranatunga has slammed Indian batsmen for playing in a Twenty20 mode in which they lacked focus. Here, it is noteworthy that India was the champion of Twenty20 world championship last year and gave too much focus on this shorter version of cricket thanks to IPL. After suffering their heaviest ever test defeat to Sri Lanka, India will take on Sri Lanka in the second test in their pursuit to come back in the series. The second test will begin at Galle International Stadium from 31 July.
