During his classy century on the second day of the first test against
SCC has always been a lucky ground for Jayawardene. In fact, the Sri Lankan already had the world record of scoring highest runs at one venue in test cricket with 2198 runs at an average of 81.40 at SCC. Now, his 136-run knock definitely has some specialty as Jayawardene came in the wicket with lots of pressure over his head following the dismissal of Kumar Sangakara. However, the captain once again proved what he has in him to lead the side scoring an excellent century. His 136 runs came off 259 deliveries and the innings was boasted of 10 boundaries and the only over boundary of Sri Lankan innings so far.
You may not consider it one of the great centuries, but the way Jayawardene played to reach the three figures sweeping away all the pressure was simply mind blowing. It is true that he got two lives, once on 55 and on 93, it does not mar the significance of the innings.

Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene is a talented batsman. This batting great can play well under huge pressure. With his 23rd Test century he has equaled the record of Don Bradman. One more century can break the record and make it his own. Can he do it against India?
