At last, Nepal has its first elected president. The general election took place in April 2008 and after the election failed to produce any clear cut winner for the parliament, the major political parties could not come into any kind of agreement for the posts of President and Vice-President. Ram Baran Yadav has now been elected as the first president of Nepal.

Ram Baran Yadav from the Nepali Congress (NC) was elected the first Nepali president on Monday.

    Hence, a leader from the marginalized Madhesi origin is due to become the first president of the world's youngest republic.

    Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, the general secretary of the Nepali Congress, the second largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA), defeated Ram Raja Prasad Singh nominated by the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M), the single largest CA party, in the second-round presidential election held on Monday.  

It will surely make the Maoists annoyed as they hoped to get someone of their own for the post of President. I just hope that new political feuds don’t take place in the country now.
