You already know that a number of front line players of West Indies cricket team have gone on strike over an contractual dispute with West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). This move led the board to name a squad, which includes nine uncapped players, for the test series against Bangladesh which kicks off today. The board and West Indies Players’ Association (WICB) are still negotiating to reach a possible solution.
Well, it is expected that the current stand off between two parties will be melt down at one stage, but it might leave a negative impact on the upcoming two-match test series against Bangladesh. Bangladesh is now clearly favorite against an experienced side. Naturally, local cricket fans will not be very interested about the test series as there will be no Chris Gayle, Chanderpaul or Sarwan in the series. So, it might lead WICB to face some financial lose in the series too. Naturally, Ten Sports television channel, who holds the official TV rights of West Indies cricket team, will not be happy with the current condition. So, WICB officials should try their best to dissolve the problem as soon as possible.
