The match between India and Australia has been abandoned due to heavy rain. Winning the toss, Australia chose to bat first and scored 234 for the loss of four wickets from 42.3 overs. However, batsmen could not continue the game due to heavy rain and they had to leave the ground to take shelter from rain. As ground was wet and unable to play because of water, match referee refused. Now, both Australia and India will have to look for their next match to make sure their place in the semi-final round.
It was a do or die match for India. After losing to Pakistan in the opening match they were put at the edge of elimination. So, their victory against Australia could remain their hope of playing in the semi-final round. On the other hand, Australia wanted a victory to be a member of semi-final round. They were in comfort mood after getting a victory against weak foe West Indies.
Australian skipper Ricky Ponting got run out after scoring 65 runs which was his 70th ODI fifty. Opening batsman Tim Paine played a potential role. He scored 56 runs before becoming a victim of Amit Mishra. Michael Hussey is another half-centurion of this match. He scored 67 runs from 65 balls. Cameron White and Callum Ferguson remained not out.
Ashish Nehra, Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra got one wicket each.
So, you can easily understand that both India and Australia’s fate will be decided in the next game.
