South Asia is slowly emerging as an important region in the world economy. Indian economy is growing fast and Pakistan is not far behind. World Bank has published a report titled: Doing Business 2007 in South Asia. Actually, World Bank assessed the condition of all the economies in the world and according to its assessment the ranking of the South Asian countries are as follows:
Maldives (53)
Pakistan (74)
Bangladesh (88)
Sri Lanka (89)
Nepal (100)
India (134)
Bhutan (138)
Afghanistan (162)

The condition of South Asian countries is not good at all in this ranking. I am sure that many Indians will feel disappointed with the country’s poor ranking. I know that some economists and columnists will criticize World Bank about this ranking. However, I would love to see that South Asian countries try more to make their countries more attractive when it comes to doing business in South Asia.
