Smoking is not cool when it claims 100,000 lives for a Country
In South Asia, many men think smoking is a cool thing to do and many boys even have the weird notion that if they smoke cigarette girls will think them to be smart. Well, for 100,000 Pakistani people, it was not a cool thing last year as they suffered death from smoking related diseases. This year, another 100,000 people will suffer an early death too. This statistics has been provided by the Network for Consumers Protection (an NGO). This sad statistics however does not discourage 1,200 new users who take up smoking everyday. You do not have to be an economist to understand the disastrous impact of the death of 100,000 people on the economy of Pakistan. Especially, many people in Pakistan are suffering from heart attack, cancer and other fatal diseases related to smoking.

The report alleged that Pakistan government was not serious enough to fight this problem. I wish that Pakistani decision makers take notice of this report and take some decisive measures without any delay to improve the situation. Smoking is decreasing in the developed world and that is why it is very tragic that Pakistani people are suffering so much from smoking.

At first, please take my heartiest thanks for writing an article on such an important issue. There is no doubt that smoking has no positive sides rather it may turn a life to death. You showed such a statistics on 100,000 Pakistani people. I think smoking should strictly be banned among the young people or the new users because for the persons aged above 45, it becomes very hard to give up though today many medicine has been introduced that help smokers to avert smoking. I also wish tha tPakistan government will take some initiative to lessen the number of smikers.
