![]() Nearly 3 weeks ago, one of my students wrote about BBC's World Cup Blog in another blog. That time, World Cup had not even started but I was amazed to see the number of comments BBC blog used to get daily. Yesterday, after Argentina won the match against Serbia and Montenegro by 6-0, Celina Hinchcliffe wrote an entry titled, 'Argentine Ecstasy' and if you visit the link write now then you can find 183 comments. I wish my blog could generate even 10% of that. The writers are professional journalists and in sports journalism some of them have celebrity status not in UK but in many countries too. So, the content is not rich but 'super rich' and what I like most is the fact that this blog is updated round the clock. The journalists are in different cities of Germany/different world cup venues and thus by visiting this blog everyday, you can have on spot report all the time. I visit the blog almost everyday and take part in the discussion (write comment) on most of the entries. Here you can find entries about the matches, teams, venues and even about spectators. I love this variation a lot.
I have just one complaint against BBC World Cup blog. I feel that they post news about the English Football team too much and neglect national teams of Argentina and Brazil. Since, BBC is a British media organization; naturally, it will cover the British team more. However, most people in South Asia like me are supporters of Argentina and Brazil and we are dying for more news and views on Argentina and Brazil. I wish BBC bloggers pay more attention to our wanted.

Hi Razib,
Thanks for your kind words about our blog and I am enjoying visiting yours.
Your point about covering others teams other than England is possibly a fair one - though as you say, we are funded by British licence fee-payers and most of them live in England and expect a big focus on the 'home team'.
However we do try and also balance that with a global perspective as that is also something even England fans expect of us. But it is often hard to juggle the two. I hope in the blog we have managed a bit of a flavour from the others teams - but certainly, how we get more is something to bear in mind for the next big event we do.
Thanks again,
Claire
