British student visas: South Asian Students are Leading
With the continuous positive economic growth in South Asian countries like India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, the number of South Asian students going to UK under education visa is increasing very rapidly. In 2000, 4,790 students from India and another 2,421 from Pakistan came to UK under student visa. In 2004-05, this figure rose to 15,283 (from India) and 10,859 (from Pakistan). I tried to find statistics for Bangladesh but could not get it so far but I know that many Bangladeshi students go to UK every year.

Such huge growth in South Asian students to UK is nothing but good news for South Asian countries. The students can help their own country by many ways. First of all, many students receive world class education and after coming back to their respective countries contribute in the development of the economy and society. Secondly, some students, after finishing their studies, remain in UK and send money to their own countries. Thirdly, many students also try to support their relatives and friends to come to UK to study. However, there is a dark side too. After going to UK, some students from South Asia do not study anymore and even stay in the country illegally.

Here in the Philippines, students don't always get the chance to study abroad as much as South Asian nations do. It's pretty expensive. But the massive migration of skilled and professional workers are hurting our economy and basic services really bad. They leave the country for a greener pasture abroad and in part also due to deteriorating leadership and governance in the country's political sphere.

This is a good news for the South Asian countries and I am sure they are doiung a very good job here importing knowledge.
One can be experienced in a profession but to be specialist it needs to higher studies and research that are possible in in the contries like England.
