Pakistani federal government is pushing Information technology sector very aggressively and already Pakistan has seen some impressive success in this sector. What gives me a lot of satisfaction is to find that the provincial government of Punjab is now becoming serious to promote the software industry. Punjab Chief Minister, Ch. Pervaiz Elahi is now actively trying that the province becomes a hub of IT in Pakistan. To know about IT related activities in Punjab, you can visit the website of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). Now, Ch. Pervaiz Elahi ha announced that a software park is going to be built in Lahore, the capital of Punjab, with an expense of Rs. 1.5 billion. The software park will have high-tech facilities and nearly 10,000 jobs will be created directly or indirectly because of this park.
I am happy that Punjab government is promoting IT industry. We have seen similar support from some state governments in India in the recent years. The support from state governments in India became a great blessing for the IT industry to flourish in Indian cities like Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Now, let us hope that we can see similar boom for Pakistani cities like Lahore.
