
Like other South Asian countries, manpower export is an important source of earning revenue for Pakistan. Remittance sent by Pakistani workers from around the world is one of major sources of earning foreign exchange for the country. Pakistan’s Federal Minister for labor, Ghulam Sarwar Khan signed a memorandum of understanding with Lee Sang Soo, Minister of Korean Labor to send Pakistani workers to the Republic of Korea under the Korean Employment Permit Scheme (EPS). The Pakistani minister went on a four day visit to Korea. Ghulam Sarwar Khan was accompanied by Managing Director Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC).
According to this report, The Company will conduct all the exporting of manpower with Korea. Within a very short period of time OEC will sign an agreement with the human resource division of the Korean Ministry of Labor.
Pakistan is the seventh most populous country in the world, fourth in Asia and second South Asia. Rate of unemployment in the country is quite high and that many Pakistanis desperately try to go other countries to find better jobs. South Korea is one of the richest countries of Asia and that is why it can be a good destination for the Pakistani workers.
