![]() After Apple Computer, Powergen is now pulling out of its outsourcing activity from India. Powergen bosses have decided that all call center enquires will be replied from UK. Managing director, Nick Horler, stated that they felt their call center work could be better done from UK instead of India. Powergen is one of the leading players in the energy sector in UK and the company has been using services of a call center in India for the last 5 years. It is clear that price is not the factor here as UK is much more an expensive place than India. Powergen bosses feel that India may be a cheaper destination but UK can offer more 'customer satisfaction'. 450 jobs will be lost in India because of this matter.
Yesterday, I wrote that Apple might have pulled out of India because the price factor. Now, Powergen is doing the same because of 'customer satisfaction' factor. I wish that Indian IT industry leaders and government officials take this issue a bit more seriously and talk to the officials of both Apple and Powergen. It is very important to discover the exact reasons that led Apple and Powergen to leave India.

Can't India provide a better customer satisfaction? I don't think so. Maybe they have other reasons more than the "customer satisfaction" they are saying.
