The seventh SAARC trade fair is going to take place in Pakistani city Karachi from June 16 to 18. I must admit that I got shocked to see lack of coverage about this fair in the media. Even in EPB (Export Promotion Bureau) website of Pakistani government, I hardly found anything significant. So, naturally, the question came to my mind- Does SAARC trade fair matter to any country?
The main goal of SAARC trade fair was to create a platform in which the traders of the 7 countries will get the opportunity to display their products and services. I searched in the website of SAARC and only could find information until fifth SAARC trade fair that took place in Bangladeshi capital Dhaka in 2003.
In the seventh SAARC trade fair, India is going to promote its spices in Pakistan with the hope of increasing export. More than 15 traders from Sri Lanka are expected to join the trade show. Unfortunately, I could not find more information than this. However, I am going to write about SAARC trade fair after it finishes and I hope that I can find more media coverage that time.
