Yesterday, I wrote about the online gambling addiction of Nepalese King Gyanendra. He lost almost of his power after a pro-democracy revolution this April. The King became too much depressed and sought some diversion else where. So, these days, King Gyanendra uses his international credit card on online-gambling. The media could not find out yet about his most favorites game in online gambling but it is clear that he enjoy it a lot as, he plays until 3 AM much to the dismay of his servants (who have to remain awake and serve him snacks and drinks). Gyanendra is depressed in the extreme level.
Of course, every human being makes mistake and Gyanendra is not an exception either. By his foolish mistakes and corruptions, he became so unpopular that thousands of people marched into the street day after day to end his dictatorial rule 3 months ago. I feel that King Gyanendra should try to become calm and try to win back the support of the Nepalese people. He needs it badly as his popularity is now in all time low.
I am proposing here 20 thinks that King Gyanendra can do instead of spending all his hours for online gambling.
1. King Gyanendra can start a blog to communicate with the ordinary people in Nepal. Blogging is very addictive and this way he will enjoy being awake until 4 AM. This will bring a positive image for him locally and internationally.
2. He can actively promote computer gaming in Nepal and can sponsor gaming competitions for the students. I am sure that this will make him popular among the young generation.
3. King Gyanendra can spend some of his time for playing with the street children. 2 million children suffer from hunger in Nepal. The King can certainly help 20 children.
4. Instead of online gambling, he can sponsor some Nepalese computer students to make computer games based on Nepal.
5. There are just 126 articles in Nepalese language in Wikipedia. King Gyanendra can spend some of his time and money for increasing this miserable statistics.
6. The King should use his credit cards to buy books from Amazon.com and then donate them to the university libraries.
7. Bonded laborer is still a problem in Nepalese society. Gyanendra can come forward and support the fight to end it.
8. Nepal is performing miserably in football/soccer and cricket. The King can sponsor quality foreign coaches to train the players.
9. Nepal does not have many websites as hosting fee is a bit expensive for the students. He can use his credit card everyday to support 10 students to buy their domain and hosting.
10. King Gyanendra can set up a web portal about the poor people of Nepal and this can attract generous support from rich people around the world. Of course, the King has to be careful that his cronies do not eat all the money coming this way.
11. King can spend his time by traveling the rural areas and knowing about the condition of the common villagers. After this, he can write a book on them.
12. King Gyanendra loves to travel aboard. When he travels aboard, he can promote Nepalese tourism.
13. There is no rich web portal about Nepal. Will King Gyanendra be interested to invest some money on it?
14. I could not find a comprehensive website about Nepalese history. If King Gyanendra takes an initiative about it, he will win the heart of many educated people.
15. King Gyanendra can spend his time to fight against hunger in Nepal. It will ensure massive publicity for him in the media.
16. Drug addiction is a growing problem for Nepalese society. He can support any kind of rehabilitation program instead of getting addicted to gambling himself.
17. King Gyanendra should enjoy the natural beauty of Nepal instead of spending his time in gambling. Seven of the top ten highest mountain peaks in the world are situated in Nepal. I don’t know why he is not interested to see this beauty when thousands of people from around the world are coming to Nepal every year for seeing these peaks.
18. In the past, some Kings used to visit different areas of their capital city in disguise and saw the condition of the ordinary people. Instead o gambling until 3AM, Gyanendra can roam about in his the capital city until 3AM.
19. Gyanendra can visit sick people in the hospitals until 3AM and spend his time with them. This will make him a very popular King within a short time.
20. King Gyanendra should hire a professional Public Relations (PR) agency team to improve his image.
