Eight students from Bhutan’s National Institute of Zorig Chusam College will go to Thailand’s Golden Jubilee Royal Goldsmith College for three months training in handicrafts. This training program is part of an agreement that took place in April between the Education ministries of the two countries, after a group of Thai students were invited to study Human Resource Development in Bhutan. The program is mainly for students who are studying handicrafts- goldsmith, silversmith, and jewelers.
Among the two countries, Thailand is more developed and industrialized. Thailand’s economy is mainly export based. USA is the major market of Thailand. Bangkok, Thailand’s capital is one of the main business centers of Asia. On the other hand, Bhutan has the smallest economy of the world mainly based on agriculture and forestry. The surprising thing is, in the fiscal years of 2005-2006, Bhutan experienced a growth of 8%. If Bhutan wants to enter into global market then I think Thailand is the better place to learn. I think Bhutanese students will greatly benefit from this kind of educational training.
