On Monday, Brunei’s Health Minister, Pehin Dato Suyol Osman, came on a four day visit to Pakistan. During his visit, Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Health, Muhammad Nasir Khan, held formal discussions with him. The ministers of the two countries agreed to provide cooperation and technical assistance on various levels in the health sector.
Mr. Nasir Khan informed the Brunei delegation that Pakistan produced highly qualified doctors, surgeons, and paramedics. He also made a proposal on offering training to Brunei doctors in the post graduation level. The ministers of the two countries also talked about various important health issues.
As I was writing this report, I did a background check on Pakistan’s health sector. According to this article published in southasia.oneworld.net Pakistan has spent 40 billion Rs in health sector this year. In the public health sector, over the past three years expenditures have increased by 11.7% on an average. However, the article provides a sad picture of Pakistan’s health sector. There are not enough doctors for the people. There is only one doctor and for 25,297 people and one nurse for 4636. Moreover, after the terrible earthquake in Northern region, the demand of doctors and hospitals has also increased. Compared to Pakistan, Brunei is a rich country with better health care facilities.
This story shows us that there are still some rich countries in the world that are yet to develop in every way. On the other hand, there are still some poor countries that have developed in some areas. Technology is the key. A country may be poor today but if its people have sound skill in technology it will develop sooner or later.

with all due respect, it is a mistake to think brunei as a 'country' is rich. certainly, some individuals are but not the general populace. pls check ur facts. brunei only has one main hospital. so i liked ur last paragraph, but not ur first. thanks.
