I am writing this entry as a part of ‘Lists’ Group Writing Project at ProBlogger of Darren Rowse. Needless to say that I like this project and I have participated in the two previous projects. Both of them helped me to get some hits and new links. To be honest with you, I wanted to submit this entry of mine: Blogging is not Fun When … but Darren has the rule that all the entries must be new. So, I am writing this entry now. I have been pro blogging for Know More Media Network since March 22 and thus it is now almost 5 months. I write in two blogs: SouthAsiaBiz (since 22 March 2006) and IndianRaj (since 20 June 2006). In SouthAsiaBiz, Mehdi Hassan joined with me on 3 July 2006. Enough of the backgrounds information. I have achieved some modest success in the last 5 months and here I like to list them.
1. Traffic: The sitemeter of my two blogs are open and anyone check them. So, far the two blogs combined have seen over 74,000 unique visitors (40,000+34,000).
Social Bookmarking sites have played the major part in bringing my traffic.
2. One of my entries could make the homepage of Fark.
3. Two of my entries were accepted by Fark Sports and Fark Politics.
4. I got Shoutwired twice.
5. Reddit and Stumble Upon also blessed me one time each so far.
More than bringing traffic for me they have boosted my confidence that if I try hard then I can become successful in blogging.
6. One of my entries got featured in the help section of Reddit.com.
7. Ranking: SouthAsiaBiz has become one of the top 30 (26th) blogs about India in Internet according to Technorati ranking. The current ranking of this blog is 9,125. However, I must admit that it has happened mainly because of being in a blog Network.
8. Both of my blogs have Google Page Rank 5 and again it happened because of being a part of blog network.
9. Award: I got Know More Media's Incredible Author Award for July 2006. It is the greatest achievement for me in my short pro blogging career so far.
10. Times Online featured one of my blogs. It was indeed a very sweet feeling for me.
11. Boing Boing mentioned my entries and it was a great feeling too.
12. I got interviewed at Blog Republic.
13. In my two blogs, I have written nearly 600 entries so far. I just missed one day of blogging.
14. One of my entries got linked by Wikipedia.
Well, unfortunately, it has become like a self promotion. I am sorry for that. I just wanted to share my success with others.
Whoa. Man, you are my hero. Read your "Blogging isn't fun when" post. Hilarious.
