The increasing number of Nepalese pilots quitting their jobs inside the country has become a major headache for the Nepalese Government. In order to discourage the pilots from quitting their jobs, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has made a new rule that any pilot has to notify the company six months earlier before quitting their job. Pilots who have not received their salaries for two months in a row can leave their job with a month’s notice. According to the chief of CAAN’s safety Ratish Chandra Lal Suman, the new rule will be implemented within the next fifteen days.
Now days, a large number of Nepalese pilots are going to India for better paid jobs. This is resulting in huge losses for the Nepalese aviation sector. According to the report published in People’s daily online, this trend started in 2002, after the shut down of a private Airlines company.
Nepal is now going through a tough time. Tourism is one of the major foreign currency earning sectors of Nepal and aviation is closely related to tourism. When a pilot suddenly quits his job it puts the airlines in serious trouble. Hence, Nepal government is now serious to keep their pilots inside the country.
