This is the next big battle. I can assure you that soon this battle is going to become very intense just like Coke vs Pepsi. It's basically the war between the rich world and poor world. India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and China are the major producers of tea in the world. In Africa, Kenya is a strong player too. Tea is mainly popular in all over Asia. In Europe, tea is mainly popular in UK and Russia.
On the other hand, coffee is popular in America and Europe- the rich world. Coffee has emerged as a $70 billion annual industry. Brazil is a major producer of coffee. Companies like Nescafe and Starbucks have made coffee very popular in rich countries. I must admit that the marketing machinery behind coffee is much better than that of tea. The advertisements of different coffee brands are really cool.
I like tea more than coffee. Here are my reasons:
1. Tea is one of major cash products of South Asia. Whenever you drink a cup of tea, you help the economy of South Asia.
2. A cup of tea is much cheaper than a cup of coffee.
3. Tea is less strong compared to coffee.
4. Tea has herbal quality and herbal is now gaining popularity all over the world.
5. Tea has some medicine qualities. In fact, drinking tea regularly can build a defensive wall against some types of cancers.
So, if you have never drunk tea then consider drinking it. As for me, I better finish this entry fast and enjoy my cup of tea.
