Bangalore is the capital of Karnataka. Home to 6.1 million people, Bangalore is the third largest and the most prosperous city in India. The per capita income of Bangalore is US$ 6,460, which is highest among Indian cities.
If Bombay is the film city, then Bangalore is the computer city. Bangalore is known as the ‘Silicon Valley of India’. Of the total software export of India, Bangalore based companies account for 35%. The main advantage of Bangalore is that it has a mild and healthy weather and dust free air. No wonder, this city became home to some of the leading government technological organizations: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), National Defense Laboratories (NDL), Bharat Heavy Electronics Limited (BHEL), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), and Indian Institute of Science (IISC).
Another reason behind Bangalore’s success is the easy availability of highly skilled people. Bangalore is home to many top ranked educational institutions of India: Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering, People's Education Society Institute of Technology, International Institute of Information Technology and many other renowned institutions can be found in Bangalore.
Along with electrical Industries, biotechnology is also another rapidly growing sector in Bangalore. The city is home to Biocon, the oldest and the leading Biotechnology firm of India. Headed by Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, the richest women in India and a pioneering figure in biotechnology, the company does business in more than fifty countries. Now, there are 240 biotechnology firms around the country and out off them 97 are situated in Bangalore.

We don't have a silicon valley here in the Philippines. I guess India is really doing well economically to have such assets to its credit. But we do have an IT capital. They called it so because it's where the concentration of call center hubs can be found. More than that, I'm not sure why they branded it as the "IT city" of the Phil.
