According to the latest news published in Times of India:
“India's premier medical and research institute, with at least 15 hostel residents — including students, PhD scholars, resident doctors and their family members — admitted to the hospital's wards due to the disease.
There were eight to 10 fresh cases on Friday, five on Thursday. The first case was reported about a week ago.”
Dengue mainly spreads from mosquito bites. The female mosquito, known as Aedes Aegypti, breeds in stagnated water. According to the report, many rooms in the hostel does not get sunlight and the waters in the coolers are not changed; also the surrounding areas are not kept clean. The caretakers are mainly to be blamed for this.
As long as I know, AIIMS always takes pride for being a very qualified medical institution. I find it really tragic that such an institution does not have a clean environment. For better education, good books, teachers and rich laboratories are not enough; clean and safe environment is also necessary. Let’s hope that AIIMS administrators and doctors learn a lesson from this incident. From now on, they should be conscious about keeping the environment of the institution clean and safe, or else, these types of tragic incidents would repeat and in the long run, would hamper the image of the institution.

Come Bangladesh to learn how to treat dengue patient.
